Today is Mike Love's 71st birthday. He's the only original Beach Boy still out there on the road, but the word is that Brian Wilson will be back touring with him this year, the 50th anniversary of the band.



The one number one hit the BBs had after Brian left? You guessed it.



For the historians among you, one could connect Robert B. Sherman, who died last week, with the Beach Boys in a song I've never seen on any Beach Boys greatest hits collection, not even among the deepest cuts. The Monkey's Uncle, whatever its musical quality, does, however, provide us with some footage of group at their most popular. Somehow, their popularity survived this number.
